Recommendations for the hike
Everything you need to do before and during the hike
- Plan out your hike based on the difficulty of the route and the physical condition of each person. The route's difficulty level is medium-high, so it helps to be fit.
- Prepare your trail using the Coronallacs map and always keep it on hand. If you are planning on bringing a GPS device, download the full track beforehand.
- Stay abreast of weather conditions and developments during the days you are planning on doing it. The weather is very unsteady in the mountains and can change quickly. It's best to start out early in the morning.
- If possible, do not hike alone and always tell someone about your planned circuit and schedule.
- Carefully select the materials and gear you’ll take with you, remembering that the weather may vary from one day to the next (head torch, water, warm clothes, etc.). Choose clothing that is breathable, comfortable and water-resistant, as well as hiking shoes or boots.
- Don’t bring more than you need in your backpack. If it’s too heavy, you’ll tire sooner.
- Apply sun cream at least 30 minutes before going out in the sun. Both temperature and solar radiation are more intense in the mountains.
- Drink lots of water. Staying hydrated is essential, as is eating regularly. Avoid drinking from fountains if you’re not sure that the water is drinkable.
In the event of emergency
What to do if you need help
Make the victim comfortable and put them where they’ll be visible to emergency services. Remember that raising both arms means you need help and raising just one arm means that everything is OK.
It’s important to know that the emergency helicopter cannot take anything other than the victim.
Respecting nature
Having fun while protecting the environment
- Take all your rubbish with you that you generate so that no trace of your presence remains on the mountain. Respect nature and the environment.
- Respect the silence and peacefulness of the place. Remember that you are in the habitat made up of many local plant and animal species.
- Do not approach or feed any livestock you `come across. They are instinctive animals and may become dangerous if they feel attacked.
- Consult all the information and recommendations in case you come across livestock during your hiking activity in the mountains.
