The mountain shelter is staffed from June to September, and can sleep up to 49 people. It consists of four rooms and there are two blankets for each hiker. In operation since 1992, the refuge offers meals and all the necessary amenities for guests. It has a bar, restaurant, fireplace, light, showers with hot water, toilet, wood stove, cooking area, telephone, shaded areas and a radio station for emergencies. It also has mobile reception.
We should also mention that the shelter is not open during the winter due to the danger of avalanches in the area. In fact, we don’t recommend venturing into the area without experience. It is included in the GR-11, GRP and HRP (High Pyrenees Trail) trails. From the mountain staffed shelter itself, you can admire the waterfall of the Comapedrosa river, idyllic in both spring and winter, when it becomes a spectacular frozen waterfall.
To get to the shelter you can take the car to the car park at the ski slopes of the Vallnord-Pal Arinsal resort. From here, you should follow the path to Les Truites Pond (elevation difference of 680 metres) on foot for about 2 hours. The trail to the mountain staffed shelter has a medium difficulty.
